Misconfigured CDN Leaves Over 1 Million Users Vulnerable, Hacker Threatens Wider Data Dump
In a significant security lapse, the UK government system suffered a misconfiguration in its Content Delivery Network (CDN), leading to the exposure of sensitive user data. The breach, which was exploited by a threat actor known as “USDoD”, has potentially compromised the personal information of over a million users.
The hacker, who claims to have extracted data from the UK government’s system, has already made public a partial database containing nearly 80,000 user records. This data includes usernames and passwords, posing a severe risk to the affected individuals.
The breach was brought to light when the hacker, operating under the pseudonym “USDoD,” shared a link to the compromised data on a public forum. The link directs users to a downloadable CSV file hosted on an anonymous file-sharing platform.
“USDoD” has issued a chilling warning, indicating intentions to release additional data from the UK government’s systems. The hacker asserts vigilance, declaring, “This is a friendly warning that I’m following every single action around the globe.”
